A community group opposed to commercial gold mining in Steiglitz
New Hanover Exploration is particularly interested in two target areas within their Exploration Licence EL6164. One target area is the quartz reefs running up along the south eastern boundary of the Brisbane Ranges National Park and referred to as their "High Grade Target". The other target area is along the Hanover Fault over a 5km length and up to 500m either side and has been referred to as the "High Tonnage Target". The Hanover Fault intersects the quartz reefs where it crosses under the southern section of the park and is the area in which they are particularly interested.
